Wood is recruiting for an Electrical Engineer to join our Projects – Electrical Engineering Group. This staff position supports Pre FEED, FEED, and EPC projects in petrochemical, oil & gas, and energy transition sectors. The role will be based in Reading – Green Park with hybrid working considered.

The Electrical Engineer will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for FEED and EPC projects within the energy sector. We are looking for early‑career engineers.

Responsibilities
* Collaborate with other Electrical Engineers and stakeholder disciplines as part of the Project Electrical Team.
* Develop and prepare design packages for electrical systems and equipment (e.g., power & distribution transformers, motors, generators, high‑/low‑voltage switchgear, MCC, distribution network, control equipment, power outlets), including drawings, datasheets, detail scope, calculations, Bill of Materials, quantity estimates, hazardous area classification, and power system studies under senior guidance.
* Coordinate interdisciplinarily with Project Engineers to develop electrical engineering deliverables and calculations.
* Prepare project load lists based on the project scope.
* Contribute to single‑line diagrams.
* Produce technical reports and specifications for electrical equipment under senior guidance.
* Support electrical activities of EPC contractors during FEED and design phases under senior guidance.
* Ensure contractor design work aligns with client standards, codes, regulations, and best practices.
* Assist Project Managers and Engineers in evaluating MR, TBE, and AR, and provide procurement support under senior guidance.
* Work closely with Engineering Teams to ensure facility integrity in terms of HSE.

Expected
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a BA/BS with a focus in the field.
* Early‑career experience in electrical engineering project work.
* Familiarity with NEC, IEEE/ANSI, IEC, and other international electrical standards and best practices.
* Proficient in English for analysis, presentations, and technical documentation.
* Commitment to continuous professional development.
Desirable
* Experience with ETAP or similar software.
* Experience and knowledge of power system studies and operation.
* Knowledge of power system automation.
