Quality Engineer
We are seeking an experienced ENGINEER for a Quality Engineer role open with a DOD/Defense/Aerospace manufacturer in the in Orange County, CA area for an on-site, mid-to-senior, Engineering-centric Quality Engineer role.
This role requires:
* An Engineering Degree: Candidates must bring a Bachelor/4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar.
* Military/Defense/DOD/Aerospace industry experience: Ideally with exposure/experience with: Defense Contract Management Agency, DCMA, GSI, Government Source inspection and must be ITAR Eligible.
* GD&T, or Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing: Must be able to work with engineering drawings, read drawings and have a solid understanding of GD&T, or Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and an ability to show/an ability to work effectively in an Engineering-centric team.
* Most of the work will be with MECHANICAL and ELECTRICAL systems, but other work with various emerging technologies, materials, and products/processes will be part of the role.
This QUALITY ENGINEER is a TRUE ENGINEER who will work with/assist in the development of departmental processes, document control, and goals with compliance to AS9100D, focusing on continuous improvement initiatives and the implementation of process improvements throughout the organization.
Much of this role will be working with the team of Engineers from multiple disciplines, ensuring manufacturing adherence to established/set procedures and developing inspection documentation for receiving, in-process and final inspection.
Additional work will include reviewing internal/external non-conformances, and coordinating corrective action responses to prevent recurrence, with SOME, but not extensive, evaluation and review of supplier performance and coordinating government/DCMA inspections.
We are NOT looking for a CQE and we are not looking for those ONLY focused on Quality Certifications or those with a SUPPLIER QUALITY centric work history, or a Compliance (QMS/ASxxx) specialist. The work will be more technical, dealing with Production, Project Quality, etc.
Ideally Qualified candidates will bring most of/all of the following:
* BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or other equivalent engineering degree preferred
* Minimum 5-10 years in an ISO9001/AS9100 QMS or other regulated manufacturing environment
* Experience with GD&T and use of metrology instruments (Can you read symbols, show true position, what is the Datum, etc.)
* Experience in Material Review Board, processing of non-conformances and CAPA, preparing First Article Inspections, AS9102
* This Engineer must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to present technical data/findings/issues, and details to internal and external customers and contacts.
* Strong MS Office Suite skills required
* Previous work experience with military products and/or DOD preferred
