Job Summary
We have created an exciting new clinical support post in speech and language therapy at the RSCH in Brighton. This post has been specifically designed to support the SaLT specialist teams in ENT and paediatric dysphagia. Working across both specialties offers a unique opportunity to develop a breadth of knowledge, skills and competencies. You will be supported by seasoned speech and language therapists who will supervise your contributions and monitor your development.
Specific clinical roles will include face‑to‑face contact with patients and/or telephone reviews, running groups and assisting in specific clinics such as videofluoroscopy. You will also manage administration of outpatient clinics across these specialties and must have well‑developed IT skills to support the systems used for administration.

* Carry out therapy programmes under guidance of SaLT teams.
* Conduct telephone reviews with patients and carers.
* Assist in a variety of clinics.
* Carry out clinical administration.
* Organise, prepare and administrate outpatient clinics.

Job Responsibilities
* Face‑to‑face contact with patients – carrying out therapy programmes, gathering case history, assisting with strategies, reviewing progress.
* Telephone calls with patients and carers to review progress and report concerns to supervising SaLTs.
* Assist in clinics – e.g., videofluoroscopy – including preparation of food and drinks for testing, equipment, fetching notes and reassuring patients.
* Run groups – support groups, therapy groups, assisting with Messy Play.
* Clinical and outpatient administration – using IT systems to manage referrals, bookings, triage and outcome reports.
* Be involved with governance activities – training, audit and risk assessment.
Person Specification
* Relevant qualification.
* Relevant clinical experience.
* Experience of administration using IT systems and spreadsheets.
* Knowledge of clinical areas of the post and the role of SaLT.
