An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Public Involvement Advisor to join the Transformational Change in Drugs, Alcohol and Housing portfolio, delivering ethical user involvement and engagement-led change as part of Healthcare Improvement Scotland's Community Engagement and Transformational Change (CETC) Directorate.
The CETC Directorate leads a wide range of improvement programmes, working in partnership with local, national, and international networks. We aim to drive better and health care outcomes through meaningful and quality assured community engagement, innovate system redesign and sustainable improvement.
In this Public Involvement Advisor role you will contribute to the Scottish Government's National Mission to reduce drug deaths and improve the lives of those impacted by drugs and alcohol through two national improvement programmes: Improving Quality and Safety in Drug and Alcohol Services and Pathways to Recovery: Redesigning Residential Rehabilitation. A priority focus of this work is the involvement of people with lived and living experience and their loved ones and carers in the design and delivery of improvements within the drug and alcohol system.
We are seeking a motivated individual with skills and experience in engagement, committed to delivering what adds value locally informed by those who use services and those who deliver them. These programmes require significant levels of partnership working, so a proven track record of collaborative working with specialist health and social care services, third sector organisations and people with lived and living experience of using alcohol and drugs is critical. It is essential you that you have strong communication and interpersonal skills as you will be required to connect, build trust and foster meaningful partnerships with a wide range of people, partners and stakeholders across the system to deliver projects.
The role will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting the planning, delivery and assurance of engagement with people with lived and living experience across the totality of the improvement programmes. You will guide the team to ensure the ethical engagement of people, lead engagement planning, and evidence the importance of engaging with a wide range of stakeholders to understand views and experiences.
We are looking for a person with excellent engagement skills and expertise which reflect the person-centred ethos of the unit, and with direct experience of engaging with people in drugs and alcohol treatment and/or recovery services.
Candidates are required to be educated to degree level or have equivalent knowledge and experience in improving services in health and social care or involving people in the design and delivery of services.
