Job description: MET Technician (Mechanical, Electrical & Trim)
Pay: £15.00 per hour - £18.00 per hour dependant on experience plus Performance Efficiency Bonus
Department: Bodyshop / Accident Repair Centre
Reports To: Bodyshop Manager / Workshop Controller
Job Purpose
The MET Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient removal, repair, and refitting of mechanical, electrical, and trim components on vehicles undergoing accident repair, ensuring all work meets manufacturer standards, quality requirements, and health & safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical & Electrical Work
* Remove and refit mechanical, electrical, and trim components as part of the accident repair process
* Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs in line with manufacturer specifications
* Diagnose and rectify faults, including electrical and electronic systems
* Perform wheel alignment, suspension, braking, and steering work where required
* Trim & Interior
* Remove and refit interior trim, dashboards, seats, airbags, and safety systems
* Ensure correct handling and refitting of SRS and ADAS-related components
Quality & Safety
* Ensure all repairs are completed to a high standard and comply with manufacturer repair methods
* Follow health & safety procedures at all times, including safe handling of tools and equipment
* Complete final checks to ensure vehicle safety and roadworthiness
* Documentation & Communication
* Accurately complete job cards, repair documentation, and quality control checklists
* Identify additional repair requirements and communicate these to the Workshop Controller or Estimator
* Work collaboratively with panel technicians, painters, and management to meet deadlines
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
* Proven experience as an MET Technician within a bodyshop or accident repair centre
* Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
* Ability to work to manufacturer repair methods and industry standards
* Good attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
* ATA accreditation or equivalent
* ADAS awareness or calibration experience
* IMI qualifications in vehicle maintenance and repair
* Experience working on a variety of vehicle makes and models

Working Hours & Conditions
Full-time position Monday - Friday 8.00 – 4.30pm with half an hour unpaid lunch break,
* Workshop-based role with use of specialist tools and equipment
* Wages is dependent on experience
* Also bonus scheme in operation
