We are excited to offer a fixed term or secondment opportunity for a band 6 SLT to join our Adult SLT Team at Barnsley Hospital. This role is ideal for a highly motivated SLT ready to take the next step in their career or seeking a fresh and rewarding challenge within a supportive and forward thinking service.
As a Senior Speech and Language Therapist, you will provide specialist assessment, intervention, and management for adults with communication and/or swallowing needs. You will work both autonomously and with supervisory support as part of our friendly, open, and collaborative team.
This role offers the opportunity to develop and consolidate skills across a range of clinical areas, including Respiratory, Care of the Elderly, Tracheostomy and Critical care, ENT, Head and Neck Cancer and Neurology.
We are looking for a SLT who is proactive, enthusiastic, and committed to contributing to the development and expansion of SLT provision across the Trust. The successful applicant will also play a key role in supporting and training other healthcare professionals within the hospital.

Main duties of the job
Provide high quality clinical advice on the assessment, diagnosis and management of patients at BHNFT who have communication and/or swallowing difficulties, voice difficulties or head and neck cancer.
Cave include those with complex needs, ENT outpatient clinics and inpatient critical care.
Provide support, education and advice to more junior SLTs, Assistants, nursing and AHP colleagues specifically in relation to patients with communication and swallowing difficulties and ensure adequate access to the service is maintained for this client group.
Follow and contribute to the development of departmental policies/guidelines and participate in the development of innovations in service delivery taking account of clinical governance.

Qualifications
* Degree in speech and language pathology or therapy or equivalent.
* Royal College of Speech and Language Therapist Certificate to Practice.
* Registration with Health Professions Council.
* Current member of RCSLT.
Skills and abilities
* Proven verbal and interpersonal skills which are able to adapt to the communication situation.
* Ability to use initiative.
Experience
* Proven post graduate accredited (or equivalent) dysphagia training and experience.
Knowledge and Awareness
* Proven post graduate SLT experience providing assessment, diagnosis and management to adults with swallowing and communication disorders.
* Proven awareness and experience of the requirement for excellence in clinical record keeping.
* Experience in working autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
* Experience in working in a Multidisciplinary team.
* Previous experience working on acute wards.
* Previous experience working with adults who have had a stroke.
* Previous experience coordinating the work of others.
* Previous experience with head and neck cancer and voice patients.
