Temporary Part Time Financial Controller – Charity. Hybrid – 1 day in Brixton, London office. Temporary – 3 months. Rate - £250/day.
Overview
We are recruiting a hands‑on Financial Controller for a specialist charity in the education sector. This is a management-level role, responsible for the overall financial control and management of the organisation covering a three-month interim assignment. The role oversees day‑to‑day financial operations, ensures accurate financial reporting, maintains robust financial controls, and supports budgeting and audit processes.
Responsibilities
* Oversee all financial reports, operations and controls.
* Review and verify the work of outsourced finance providers, including payroll and bookkeeping.
* Manage expenses, payments, VAT returns, and Gift Aid claims.
* Prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts, budgets, and financial reports.
* Support budget holders with financial analysis and monitoring.
* Lead audit preparation and act as the main contact for external auditors.
* Maintain and improve financial systems, processes, and documentation.
Qualifications
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
* At least 5 years’ post‑qualification experience in a senior finance role within a charity.
* Strong technical accounting knowledge, including charity and restricted fund accounting.
* Experience using accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage.
* Able to communicate financial information clearly to non‑finance stakeholders.
* Proactive, hands‑on, and comfortable working in a small, fast‑paced organisation.
