Specialist Pharmacist - Haematology, Oncology and Aseptic Services

This is a great opportunity for a highly motivated and forward-thinking Pharmacist to join the Pharmacy Aseptics team at Harrogate Hospital, where you will work alongside Support Workers, Science Manufacturing Technicians, Pharmacy Technicians and fellow Pharmacists. The aseptic facility at Harrogate has just undergone a major refurbishment which has created a state of the art, modern aseptic unit, which includes four brand new pharmaceutical isolators.
You will be responsible for the supply of high risk injectable medicines to the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre and to our Medical Day Unit, ensuring these are clinically appropriate. We have a very strong working relationship with all of our Nurses and Clinicians and our Pharmacy team is very well respected.

Main duties of the job
Essential Requirements: Registered with the GPhC
* Support the provision of cytotoxic chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies (MABs), centralised intravenous additives (CIVA) and total parenteral nutrition (TPN) to patients at the hospital in accordance with the policies and procedures of the department.
* Working alongside the Lead Pharmacist and Advanced Clinical Pharmacists you will be trained in all clinical aspects of haematology and oncology as well as gaining technical experience in aseptic services.
* Provide a specialist service to our haematology/oncology inpatients.
* Run a Pharmacist-led telephone clinic for patients commencing anti-cancer treatment.
* Be involved with clinical trials and take a lead in the management of any new trials that the Trust becomes involved with.
* Contribute to the development of new treatment protocols and procedures.
* Work as part of a team and communicate effectively; numerical skills are also essential.
* Attendance on appropriate training courses is encouraged and all clinical pharmacists will be supported to become independent prescribers in line with Carter metrics.

Job responsibilities
The Pharmacy Aseptics team is a small, close-knit team made up of highly motivated support workers, science manufacturing technicians, pharmacy technicians and pharmacists, all of whom are committed to making a difference to the service that we provide. The team sits within the wider pharmacy department and the successful candidate will be working closely with many colleagues across the whole department.

Person Specification
* Masters Degree in Pharmacy
* Post Graduate Clinical Diploma (or working towards)
* Minimum of 1 year post registration hospital experience or equivalent clinical experience.
* Basic knowledge about injectable medicines
* Basic knowledge about haematology and oncology
* Demonstrate experience of clinical reasoning and judgement.
* Experience in Aseptic Services
* Experience in clinical trials
