Overview
An ambitious and experienced professional is sought to take on a senior leadership role with responsibility for the financial and operational management of a school foundation. The role works closely with the Head and Governing Body to support strategic development and ensure effective day‑to‑day operations.
Key Responsibilities
Finance and Accountancy
* Advise on financial strategy and policy
* Prepare and manage budgets in collaboration with senior staff
* Monitor income and expenditure
* Maintain accurate financial records and produce reports in line with SORP
* Manage cash flow forecasting (up to five years)
* Oversee billing and fee collection
* Authorise and process invoices
* Support marketing and development initiatives
General Management and Administration
* Act as Clerk to Governors
* Ensure compliance with employment law and regulatory requirements
* Develop and implement policies
* Oversee insurance provision
* Advise on taxation matters
* Manage property lettings
* Liaise with government bodies and maintain statutory records
* Oversee transport compliance and operations
* Manage school uniform provision
Buildings and Grounds
* Oversee maintenance of buildings, utilities, and infrastructure
* Manage maintenance schedules and records
* Coordinate tenders, planning permissions, and contractor relationships
* Ensure upkeep of grounds, drainage, boundaries, and access routes
Person Specification
* Relevant finance qualification with strong strategic and operational experience
* Proven leadership experience in a complex organisation
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to influence, negotiate, and build relationships at senior level
* Resilient, adaptable, and solutions‑focused
* Sound judgement and decision‑making capability
* High level of organisation and ability to work under pressure
* Strong business and administrative experience
* Commitment to supporting the wider aims of an educational environment
* Experience in an educational setting is desirable but not essential
Working Hours and Benefits
* 37.5 hours per week (Monday–Friday), with flexibility as required
* 4 weeks’ holiday plus public holidays (increasing to 5 weeks after one year)
