Job Description

MCS Group is working with a large public sector employer in County Antrim to find an Environmental Health Officer. This role offers a 4-day workweek, a competitive salary, and potential for a longer contract. Location: Ballymena. Contract Length: 9 months with potential extension. Salary: £38.5k (Pro-rata).

Responsibilities include:

1. Conduct inspections, investigations, and assessments across environmental health functions such as public health, food safety, and housing.
2. Implement enforcement actions in accordance with legislation, including serving notices and preparing legal documentation.
3. Serve as an expert witness and provide reports for legal and public health matters.
4. Collaborate with external agencies and stakeholders to meet environmental health goals.
5. Participate in planning reviews, public consultations, health campaigns, and reactive monitoring, including out-of-hours responses.
6. Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, support training, and perform administrative duties.


Candidate Requirements

* Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent experience.
* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
* At least 1 year of experience in a public sector environmental health role.
* Knowledge of current environmental health legislation.
* Stakeholder engagement skills.
* Valid driver's license and access to transport.
