Overview
As part of the UK Logistics team, the Shipping Department plays a key role in processing shipments efficiently. The team aims to provide first-class customer service to internal and external clients. The role is vital for organizational success, ensuring smooth logistics flow that impacts business revenue.
Main Responsibilities
* Manage export and import shipments, including booking freight, arranging transport, and tracking shipments.
* Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to ensure timely delivery.
* Ensure compliance with ADR/IMDG & IATA regulations for hazardous materials.
* Prepare customs documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and export/import declarations.
* Review customs declarations for compliance, log discrepancies, and follow up on amendments.
* Build professional relationships to promote the organization’s image.
* Obtain and compare freight quotes, monitor costs, and process invoices.
* Communicate effectively with all stakeholders regarding shipment status and delays.
Required Experience and Skills
* Proven experience in export and import shipping coordination.
* Knowledge of HM Revenue and Customs procedures is a plus.
* Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
* Excellent administrative, multitasking, and attention to detail skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
