We're looking for a hands-on interim Financial Controller who loves a project to design and implement a finance function from the ground up. This is a high-impact role for a qualified accountant who thrives in environments where structure is being created, not inherited.
You'll be working directly with the board to establish financial control, reporting, and strategic insight from first principles. This is a true build role - perfect for someone who enjoys moving quickly from diagnosis to delivery.
Interim Financial Controller/Lead | Build & Transform Role
Location: Yeovil / Hybrid (1 day per week onsite)
Term: 6-Month Contract
Day Rate: £350pd+ / 65k-70k+ (FTC)
Start: Immediate
Key deliverables:
1. Design and implement robust financial controls and processes
2. Develop and produce monthly management accounts and board reports
3. Analyse contract performance and expenditure to drive decision-making
4. Lead the transition from outsourced finance provision to in-house function
5. Establish budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management processes
6. Ensure compliance with UK financial regulations and tax requirements
We need someone who:
7. Is a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with experience in start-up/scale-up environments
8. Has built finance functions before and can operate with minimal direction
9. Is proficient in QuickBooks and advanced Excel
10. Can translate financial data into strategic insight for board-level decisions
11. Is hands-on, pragmatic and comfortable working at both operational and strategic levels
