Purpose of the Role
How would you like to be part of the team at BBC Radio Cumbria? We have an opportunity for a great content producer to join us. You’ll be finding and telling great stories from across Cumbria, and you’ll be a production whizz! Whatever the story, we want someone that is creative and can help bring stories to life for our listeners. You’ll be a self‑starter who knows how to find the best stories and guests, but we also want a responsible pair of hands with an understanding of BBC values and editorial guidelines. As well as delivering for radio, you’ll also need to think about digital content, including photos and videos. A knowledge of Cumbria would be an advantage, but we’re mainly after someone with great ideas and experience of set up programme production.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
* You’ll be a content producer for BBC Radio Cumbria. Working with presenters and executive producer, you’ll be mainly producing content for our shows.
* You’ll be a key member of the team, crafting content, briefing guests and adding a creative touch to bring stories to life on the radio.
* You may also be asked to create digital content, for BBC online, social media and the BBC Sounds rail.
* You may occasionally be asked to cover other shifts on the rota, which could include early or late shifts, or weekend working.
* The on‑air and set‑up production of shows on BBC Radio Cumbria where editorial judgement is exercised in developing story ideas and producing accurate and impartial content.
* Use a range of video, audio and digital equipment and information technology to research, write, assemble, edit and deliver outputs in the appropriate medium, to the highest professional standards.
* To prioritise and plan activities taking into account all the relevant issues and factors such as deadlines, staffing and resources available.
* Significant recent experience as a content producer especially programme set‑up production, with a good knowledge of production techniques.
* Effective planning and organising skills, ability to concentrate on several areas of work at one time, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
Essential Criteria
* A self‑starter who knows a good local story and how to find it.
* Ability to use technology as required especially experience of the technology for on‑air studio programme production.
* Demonstrates a creative approach to storytelling.
* Able to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people especially the programme presenter and other members of the programme team.
Desirable
* A good broadcast voice.
* Experience of bulletin reading.
