Job Description At SPE Energy (SPEE) we are a Team of Engineers that shape and support engineering and construction for our diverse customer base who provide to millions of people across the UK. We have a small Team of talent, combining strength, innovation, and dedication to ensure sustainabilityfor all Stakeholders. We design, manufacture, deliver and provide services for HV Switchboards and RVCBs across key sectors, Power and Energy, Water, Light and Heavy Industrial, across the UK as well as globally. The Role To be responsible for building control panels in accordance with BS 7671. To understand the designs, identify potential issues, size cables, and confirm correct components are used Ensure that all Health and Safety legislation and regulations are adhered to. Ensure that all items are built to the highest standards, in compliance with the projects quality plan, inspection and test plans. To follow and actively promote the STAR dynamic risk assessment and to be empowered to stop work should unsafe circumstances arise. To coach and mentor Apprentices and others where applicable. Promote and demonstrate respect when dealing with other Team Members, customers, and visitors to our premises. Promote positive health and wellbeing amongst the Team. To act in a professional manner and be an ambassador for SPE Energy, supporting the companys goals and maintaining its positive reputation. Key Accountabilities Preparation Prepare drawings, tools, components and working area to ensure an efficient build by the Team. Keep all areas of manufacturing area neat, clean, and tidy. Following instructions from the Management Team. Collect components from relevant works order bins. Liaise with relevant Team Member on missing components. Production Production of control panels, including: Interpretation of circuit and layout drawings and project information. Accurately following schematic diagram. Interpretation of circuit, layout drawings and project information. Assembly of components and cabling to meet design requirements. Follow clear instructions when selecting cables, components and build techniques. Ensuring components are not lost, damaged, and always kept secured. Ensure all tools are secured out of hours. Ensure test and/or delivery dates are met early. To ensure that all Control Panels are complete in line with safety regulations and customer specifications. To keep the Manufacturing Lead up to date with all process on build requirements. Correction of drawings, recording of any changes to ensure accurate revisions can be kept. Maintain a tidy workshop. Backplate Layouts Laying out of components on the back plate in a logical manor. Using appropriate tools to securely fix components to the backplate. Demonstration of layout competence on using either a drawing or able to do a layout for approvals. Wiring Backplates Logical following of a schematic drawings. Recording and reporting any errors found or improvements made. Accurately identify cables and ensure they are in correct order. Selecting the correct size cable crimp or cable Lug for components Panel Installations To safely move Panels and steel frameworks around the workshop. To connect all interlining cables between cabinets. Ensure the correct size mains cables and tails are selected. Crimp and Lug ends of cables to the relevant standard using the correct tool. Checks and Tests Ensuring all manufactured product leaves our workshops fully tested and in a safe working condition. Safety Ensure all Health and Safety legislation and regulations are adhered to. Understand how to use all workshop tools correctly and safely. Adhere to SPE Energy safety procedures and report all issues accordingly. Understand RAMs and the importance of them. To use STAR at any point with any job (Stop Think Act Review). Ensure good working practices are maintained to the highest standard.
