Job Title: Senior Traffic Analyst / Transport Planner

A well-established transport planning and highway consultancy based in Bristol, working with a wide range of public and private sector clients across the UK. We provide expert transport planning, traffic analysis and highway design advice on projects of all scales - from early feasibility and planning support through to detailed design and implementation.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to strengthen our team with an experienced Traffic Analyst / Transport Planner.
The Role
We are seeking a motivated and technically strong Traffic Analyst to play a key role within our transport planning team. You will take responsibility for delivering traffic and junction modelling work, supporting planning applications, and contributing to the technical direction of projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing and reviewing traffic generation, distribution and assignment assessments
Forecasting future traffic flows at junction and network level
Undertaking junction capacity assessments using PICADY, ARCADY, LINSIG and ideally TRANSYT
Supporting and, where appropriate, leading work using SATURN and VISSIM
Interpreting and presenting modelling results clearly within Transport Assessments, Technical Notes and client reports
Working closely with Transport Planners and Highway Design Engineers to deliver integrated solutions
Providing technical input to junior staff and supporting their development
Engaging with clients, local authorities and project teams as required
About You
We are looking for someone who can bring experience, confidence and technical credibility to the role. You will ideally have:
Several years’ experience in a traffic analysis or transport planning consultancy role
Strong technical capability across junction modelling and traffic forecasting
Excellent Excel skills and a highly analytical approach
Experience contributing to or leading Transport Assessments and supporting planning submissions
A relevant degree (e.g. Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Mathematics or similar)
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical outputs clearly to non-technical audiences
A collaborative mindset and high attention to detail
