Job Title: Senior Process Engineer

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to support the commissioning and start-up phase of a major project within our chemical manufacturing facility. This role will play a critical part in ensuring new and modified plant systems transition safely and efficiently from installation through commissioning into full production, while also supporting the development of junior engineers within the team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and support process commissioning activities, including line checks, water trials, and Process Functional Testing (PFT) of new and modified plant systems
* Develop and execute commissioning protocols, start-up procedures, and operating philosophies
* Review and validate PFDs, P&IDs, control philosophies, and process documentation prior to start-up
* Work closely with operations, engineering teams, and contractors during plant start-up and performance verification
* Troubleshoot process issues during chemical trials and early production campaigns
* Participate in HAZOPs, Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), and Management of Change (MoC) processes
* Support process safety reviews, including pressure relief considerations, environmental compliance, and plant operability
* Assist with process validation and optimisation as the plant transitions from commissioning to steady-state production
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, supporting process design activities such as mass balances, flowsheets, and equipment specifications
What We’re Looking For
* Degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering
* Significant experience in chemical or fine chemical manufacturing environments
* Demonstrated experience supporting plant commissioning and start-up of batch or continuous process plants
* Strong working knowledge of P&IDs, mass balances, process flow diagrams, and process control systems
* Experience with process safety methodologies (HAZOP, PHA, LOPA, pressure relief systems)
* Familiarity with ATEX environments, solvent handling, filtration, drying, and reaction vessel operations
* Ability to provide technical oversight and mentorship to developing engineers
* Strong troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
