There are exciting developments in Wirral CYPMHS. We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate Assistant Psychologist to enhance and support in CYPMHS Wirral 0-18 around the outcomes for SEND & neurodiversity within primary care

We are offering a full time post for 6 months which will provide a range of opportunities including supervision with a clinical psychologist, data gathering and face to face work with families & young people

Please note the interviews are planned for Friday 5th September.


Main duties of the job


The postholder will be involved in work alongside other practitioners based within Wirral 0-18 team specially in the area of SEND & neurodiversity outcomes. They will work independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures and will assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits and outcome measures, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work., as well as work with families specifically those with a neurodiversity and SEND needs

Qualifications



Essential criteria

* Good honours degree in Psychology (2.i or above). Eligibility for Graduate Membership of BPS
* To undertake breakaway training or equivalent following appointment.


Desirable criteria

* Advanced keyboard skills
* Other related academic qualifications to Masters or Doctorate level.


Knowledge and Expertise



Essential criteria

* The ability to communicate complex/ sensitive information where barriers to understanding exist. For example, instances requiring empathy and reassurance.
* The ability to make judgements involving a range of facts or situations requiring analysis or comparison of a range of options. Also skills for assessing children/young people in one-to-one sessions, group dynamics or who are participating in research.
* The ability to organise straightforward tasks, activities or programmes, some of which may be ongoing. Also, the ability to plan and prioritises own workload, research programme activities; group sessions, etc.
* Working to Professional Guidelines.
* Must be capable of working within guidelines; receives regular supervision/ direction


Desirable criteria

* Ability to use routinely available spreadsheet/database software (Excel, Access, etc.)
* Record of having published in either peer reviewed or academic or professional journals and/or books


Experience



Essential criteria

* Demonstrable relevant work experience or knowledge of working with children, young people or adults with mental health difficulties.


Desirable criteria

* Relevant work experience with adolescents with mental health problems.
* Desire to progress to Clinical Training (DClinPsy)
* Relevant work experience with young people or adults with Eating Disorders.
