Role: Locum Consultant in Histopathology
Rates: £100 - £125 per hour (PAYE)
Shifts: Full Time, Monday to Friday
Job Details: Need to be on the GMC specialist register as a Histopathologist and able to report independently.
Location: Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Alongside a friendly, multidisciplinary team of dedicated healthcare professionals, you will use some of the most advanced medical equipment in the country to diagnose, treat, and prevent a range of diseases, confirming various diagnoses by studying tissue and fluid samples.
Working flexible shifts at Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, you will identify disease, build an appropriate treatment plan based on your expert knowledge, determine what tests need to be carried out, and interpret the subsequent test results. You must then draw upon your communication skills to provide this critical information to both patients and your fellow health professionals.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
 * Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information to explain a diagnosis.
 * Work in a multidisciplinary team and lead where appropriate.
 * Assess and prioritise patient/client requirements, delegating effectively to others.
 * Examine patients, using your diagnostic skills to determine necessary tests.
 * Support and advise clinical staff on the use and limitations of each diagnostic investigation.
 * Provide advice and interpret test results, assessing the appropriateness of further investigations.
 * Deliver clinical care to patients where needed and conduct ward rounds and outpatient clinics.
 * Oversee the smooth running of the Pathology Department, planning workload and staffing requirements as needed.
 * Supervise and teach junior medical staff where required.
 * Carry out research and keep up to date with new information.
 * Adhere to the NMC professional Code of Conduct.
Qualifications / Licences / Certifications
 * GMC registered Doctor with full licence to practice.
 * Must hold FRCPath Part 2.
 * Completion of higher training (CCT or within 6 months of obtaining).
 * Applicants without CCT registration must demonstrate substantial prior experience at consultant grade and hold FRCPath Part 2.
 * Must have evidence of Right to Work in the UK (this role does not offer visa sponsorship).
 * Pass an enhanced background check (DBS).
 * Willing to work as PAYE only; locum work for NHS hospitals (not private or insourcing).
