Job summary
The Respiratory Physiology department is seeking to appoint a Chief Respiratory Physiologist on a permanent, full-time basis. You will lead the team in providing services at the CDC and the wider community, supporting junior colleagues, providing training, working autonomously, and demonstrating best practice.
This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Physiologists aiming for a leadership role or those at a similar level seeking a new challenge.
Main duties include:
1. Performing comprehensive lung function tests safely and according to guidelines, including spirometry, gas transfer, static lung volumes, bronchodilator response testing, and shuttle walk tests.
2. Analyzing and interpreting test results and providing expert clinical care.
3. Identifying and rectifying equipment faults when possible.
4. Taking basic measurements, explaining tests, reassuring patients, and confirming their suitability for testing.
5. Communicating complex and sensitive information to patients and carers regarding test outcomes.
6. Performing respiratory diagnostic tests to nationally recognized standards.
7. Adhering to infection control practices and protocols.
8. Ensuring protocols are followed, providing accurate analysis, and leading the production of monthly performance reports.
