Systems Engineer | Manchester | Contract
Our client is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with strong enterprise networking expertise to support a major business transformation programme. The Successful System will take ownership of the end-to-end network environment, ensure its availability, security, and performance, while leverage your expertise in Microsoft Infrastructure and Modern Workplace technologies across a fast-paced enterprise estate.
Key Responsibilities of the Systems Engineer:
Own and manage the corporate network across multiple sites, including switching, routing, wireless, firewalls, VPNs, and WAN connectivity.
Optimise network performance for high-volume workloads, including synchronisations, build distribution, and GPU workstation traffic.
Monitor network capacity, performance, and availability, ensuring a resilient and scalable architecture.
Manage network hardware, ISP services, and third-party connectivity providers.
Support the wider IT infrastructure estate, including Windows, identity, endpoint, and cloud platforms.
Key Skills and Experience of the Systems Engineer:
Expert-level knowledge of enterprise networking technologies, including routing, switching, wireless networks, firewalls, and VPNs.
Hands-on experience with enterprise networking solutions such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Aruba, Juniper, Cisco, or equivalent platforms.
Demonstrated experience in the design, implementation, and support of secure network infrastructures.
Strong expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, and Identity and Access management technologies.
Exposure to network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, including Python, Ansible, and Terraform, would be advantageous.
The successful Systems Engineer candidate will be commutable 5 days a week to Manchester.
