Locum Consultant Thoracic Surgeon

Applications are sought for a Locum Consultant Thoracic Surgeon to join our team at Royal Papworth Hospital. The post-holder will possess a certificate of completion of training (CCT) or a certificate of eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or equivalent in the specialty of Cardiothoracic Surgery and have significant experience in adult thoracic surgery. Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be responsible to the Clinical lead for thoracic surgery and the Clinical Director of Surgery Services and accountable to the Medical Director when undertaking the following duties:
*Provide a thoracic surgical service to the highest standards which will include programmed activities for operating theatre sessions and out-patient clinics
*Provide leadership in the multi-disciplinary team, a professional role model and clinical supervision to the junior medical staff
*In conjunction with colleagues, work flexibly to achieve the hospital's agreed planned activity for thoracic surgery.
*Participate in the on-call rota for thoracic surgery and trauma.
*Participate in multi-disciplinary clinical meeting including the weekly Thoracic Surgery, Thoracic Oncology and Hyperinflation meetings. As required attendance at the NHSE national pectus MDT
*Contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical protocols to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of the service
*Ensure that standards are maintained and developed through clinical audit, research, appraisal and evidence-based practice.
*Be familiar with the College curricula for resident doctors' training and contribute to their training requirements, including tutorials, on-the job teaching, mentoring, appraisal and assessment
*Support the Trust research and development strategy, and contribute to the surgical research programme

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent FRCS or equivalent Specialist Registration in Cardiothoracic Surgery on commencement
* Licence to practise with the GMC
Experience
* Experience in adult thoracic surgery
* Subspecialty interest encouraged
