Band 6 Liaison Psychiatry Practitioner – based at Macclesfield Hospital, the role involves engaging distressed patients, collaborating with A&E and inpatient teams, and working with mental health nursing, social work, learning disability or occupational therapy professionals.
Responsibilities
* Provide prompt liaison psychiatry assessments and support treatment delivery within the ED 4‑hour targets and NHS England response times.
* Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and manage patients and their families/carers presenting to A&E or admitted to hospital.
* Support education and training of acute care staff on mental health issues, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act.
* Work as part of the Urgent Care Mental Health First Response Services, including Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Teams, Street Triage Services and the Crisis Line.
* Maintain robust supervision and contribute to ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
* Experience working with patients with complex mental health difficulties.
* Strong clinical risk assessment skills and a compassionate, collaborative approach to multidisciplinary teamwork.
* Relevant professional background in mental health nursing, social work, learning disability or occupational therapy, or equivalent experience.
