About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planning Engineer to join our Power Transmission & Distribution business based in Isle of Skye, working 3 days per week onsite.
You will work on various OHL, Underground Cabling, and Substation projects across Scotland, valued up to £100m. The role can be based in our Motherwell or Aberdeen office, with a requirement to work onsite up to 3 days per week once construction begins, along with site visits and potential homeworking.
We welcome applicants with sector experience, but all should be accomplished P6 Planners with knowledge of Project Controls.

What you'll be doing
On a daily basis, you will:
* Support planning and monitoring of all project activities.
* Ensure delivery of weekly and monthly programme reports.
* Maintain an accurate, fully logically linked programme per contract requirements.
* Participate in developing the planning team and promote best practices.
Key Responsibilities (for major and complex programmes)
* Plan, structure, and lead project programme planning.
* Manage interfaces between the programme and operational staff via meetings and reporting.
* Highlight dependencies and stakeholder interfaces.
* Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies.
* Identify opportunities and propose capture strategies.
* Maintain a logically linked Primavera P6 programme.
* Ensure the schedule is resourced and updated to reflect execution strategy changes, working closely with the delivery team.
Who we're looking for
Essential
* Competent Primavera P6 user, preferably within Power Transmission projects.
* Operational experience in large, complex construction projects.
* Proven project management methodology experience.
* Ability to work with engineering/operational teams to track progress.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Desirable
* Experience working in an NEC3 contract environment.
* Experience mentoring junior planning staff.
* Experience with change management techniques.
