A Little About Your Role
The Stations team within WSP’s Rail business are actively seeking an Associate Director MEP (Rail) to lead teams delivering Rail MEP Building Services for major Railway projects.
The role includes all aspects of technical delivery during all stages, including Concept to RIBA 4 / GRIP 5 stages, client engagement and internal multidisciplinary coordination.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading rail stations M&E design team.
* Liaise with client/contractors for M&E design.
* Act as focal point between the client team and the WSP design team.
* Resolve design issues collaboratively with the M&E design team.
* Lead a team of M&E engineers.
* Apply knowledge of rail station mechanical, electrical, and public health systems (Telecoms and fire systems added advantage).
* Ensure compliance with Building Regulations Part L and other MEP sustainable and net‑zero design requirements.
* Deliver highly sustainable, low‑carbon design that meets WSP’s and clients’ net‑zero commitments.
* Share knowledge and technical skills with colleagues worldwide.
* Interpret client specifications and standards in design development.
* Develop contractual and commercial awareness to interpret employer’s instructions, early warnings, and other correspondences.

* You will work closely with like‑minded individuals on exciting and challenging projects.
* The rail station MEP team consists of more than 100 mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers.
* Projects range across Network Rail, HS 2, TfL, Transport for the North, TfGM, Nexus, local authorities, principal contractors, and private developers.
What We Would Want You To Demonstrate
* Experience of leading MEP/FC building services design team in the rail environment during design and construction stages.
* Qualifications meeting the requirements for chartership with a UK Engineering Institution.
* Understanding of:
o HS 2, Network Rail and/or London Underground standards.
o MEP building services design requirements in rail or similar regulated environments.
o Working with M&E client/contractors during initial design, detailed design, and preferably construction stages.
