Job overview

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Urgent Treatment Centre which is part of the wider Emergency Services Group at New Cross Hospital.

You will be working as Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner within both Urgent Treatment Centre's based at New cross Hospital and The Phoenix UTC. The post holder will be expected to work in a clinical capacity in addition to line management responsibilities. Management time will be given for this. Managerial duties are expected to be completed during the Mon-Fri working week, 9am-5pm.

We are looking for qualified and experienced Band 8a advanced clinical practitioners are passionate about their role, professional development and achieving better outcomes for patients.

Suitable applicants for the post will have successfully completed an accredited Minor Injuries and Minor Illness module (or equivalent) and hold a current non-medical prescribing qualification (V300). They will have previous experience working autonomously in a Primary / Acute or Urgent Care setting.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate experience in leading and managing a team.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of evidence-based nursing care in designated area of work for patients presenting with long term conditions/minor ailments/injuries, and the provision of preventative health care.

As an autonomous practitioner you will be responsible for the care delivered demonstrating critical thinking and skills in clinical decision-making in the management of patients.

To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of treatment/care

Successful ACP’s, will assess, examine, diagnose and treat adult and paediatric patients with minor injuries and illness within a defined scope of acuity, presentation and their own professional scope of practice. .

There is also an expectation for ACP’s to support trainee practitioners and medical staff, wishing to develop their minor injuries / illness skills within an urgent care setting

You will ideally have previous experience of telephone triage of patient

You will have direct line management and budgetary responsibilities in this post.

You ideally will hold paediatric qualification or have experience of assessing and treating children and the under 1yrs and/or willingness to undergo appropriate training in the first 6months in post.

You will ideally have previous experience of telephone triage of patients.

Demonstrate and take an active part in the training, development and support of the junior practitioners within the service.

Qualifications

* NMC Registration
* Completed master's level education in Advanced clinical practice
* Undertaken an accredited Emergency Nurse Practitioner Minor Injuries Course
* Undertaken an accredited Emergency Nurse Practitioner Minor Illness Course
* Paediatric assessment qualification or previous experience


Skills and Experience

* Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner
* Clinical judgements and decision making
* Standard keyboard skills and knowledge of a number of IT packages such as excel, Word, PAS, MSS
* Evidence of managing and leading a team
* Significant experience of working as an autonomous advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) post obtaining MSC qualification
* Evidence of personal/clinical development in the last 12 months
* Understanding of the UTC core standards
