Assistant Teenage and Young Adults (TYA) Youth Worker B3

The main responsibilities include:
1. Developing positive, trusting relationships with young people to support their emotional well-being, encourage self-expression, and promote autonomy.
2. Participating in the TYA Cancer Multidisciplinary Team, using specific skills to contribute to the care and understanding of young people, their families, and carers.
3. Ensuring the day care and outpatient environment is young people-friendly and stimulating.
4. Collaborating with the Youth Worker to provide tailored activities and peer support opportunities that reduce isolation and foster resilience.
5. Encouraging and helping to develop a peer group network of support.
6. Supporting the youth worker in signposting TYAs to accessible grants and benefits, especially when they are struggling with the cost of living.
7. Supporting the youth worker in guiding and mediating for the TYA and their family.
8. Supporting patients to advocate for themselves and their best interests within the team and wider hospital; advocating for them when necessary.
9. Supporting the Youth Worker in maintaining and managing social media platforms to inform, connect, and engage young people in a safe and supportive manner.
