School Business Manager
Gloucester, Gloucestershire Contract: Permanent Hours: Full-time Work location: In person
Reed Education are working in partnership with a large and well-established primary school in Gloucester to recruit an experienced and highly organised School Business Manager. This is a permanent opportunity to join a forward-thinking leadership team and play a pivotal role in the strategic and operational management of the school.
The Role:
As School Business Manager, you will oversee the school’s financial, administrative, and operational functions, ensuring the efficient running of the school and supporting its long-term success.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading on financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring expenditure
* Managing the school’s administrative and support staff
* Overseeing HR processes, including recruitment, contracts, and staff records
* Ensuring compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, and statutory regulations
* Managing premises, facilities, and site services
* Overseeing procurement and ensuring best value across services and suppliers
* Supporting the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team with strategic planning
* Managing contracts, service level agreements, and external providers
* Contributing to school improvement planning and operational efficiency
The Ideal Candidate:
Essential:
* Experience in a School Business Manager or similar leadership/operations role
* Strong financial management and budgeting experience
* Excellent organisational and leadership skills
* Knowledge of HR processes and compliance
* Understanding of health & safety and safeguarding requirements
* Ability to work strategically and operationally
Desirable:
* Experience working within a primary school setting
* Relevant qualifications (e.g. SBM qualification, finance or business management)
* Knowledge of education systems and funding structures
