The role
As an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer you’ll play a critical part in supporting complex, safety‑critical systems that underpin the operation, maintenance and long‑term availability of nationally important naval infrastructure.
Day-to-day, you’ll work alongside specialist teams, solve complex problems, support system upgrades, and help shape long-term improvements across a diverse range of electrical, control and instrumentation systems.
1. Providing technical support to the operation and maintenance of EC&I equipment across the site.
2. Leading fault investigations, diagnostics and technical problem‑solving activities.
3. Developing EC&I designs, drawings, schematics and technical documentation for system modifications and upgrades.
4. Completing asset condition surveys, compliance assessments and obsolescence reviews to support long‑term engineering planning.
5. Managing technical queries, configuration control and engineering change processes through the full system lifecycle.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer
6. HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic or Control and Instrumentation Engineering.
7. Solid understanding of electrical control principles.
8. Familiarity with EC&I instruments and their applications.
9. Ability to interpret and develop technical documentation.
10. Strong analytical and problem‑solving approach.
Qualifications for the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer
11. HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic or Control and Instrumentation Engineering.
12. Additional EC&I‑related qualifications or training - Desirable
