Role Profile
Our client is a growing privately-owned business, who have recently invested over £2 million into new production equipment and facilities to scale with growth. As Production Shift Manager, you will be responsible for production volumes while ensuring the highest level of health and safety compliance. Successfully managing your team of technical operators and production staff in a team of up to 9. Ensuring smooth running of production and uptime of production machinery, reporting into the Production Manager with throughput KPIs and production metrics.
The role is a Monday to Friday, 3:30pm-11:30pm shift with flexibility required in line with business needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee production volumes - driving performance and ensuring product quality standards are maintained.
2. Maintain and manage production machinery to reduce downtime and maximise throughput.
3. Lead the late shift team of production staff to the highest of standards in efficiency, compliance and throughput.
4. Closely collaborate with the Production Manager to ensure targets and KPIs are met.
5. Conduct shift handovers, effectively communicating key updates, issues and performance metrics between shifts.
6. Act as a resilient and decisive leader, taking accountability for nightly production volume and quality.
7. Making effective commercial decisions under pressure.
8. Ensure smooth running of production, where necessary, taking a 'hands-on' approach with production machinery.
9. Supervise and motivate production teams, providing clear direction, coaching, and support to maintain high performance.
10. Always ensure stringent SHEQ compliance across all aspects of production.
11. Identify and implement process improvement strategies to improve productivity.
Key Skills & Experience
12. Proven shift management experience, ideally within a production or FMCG environment.
13. Experience of late shift production environments, preferably with hands-on experience of bottling and pouching lines.
14. Strong background in food, pharmaceutical production or FMCG sector.
15. Good understanding of quality, health & safety standards in a fast-moving food production environment.
16. Evidence of technical skills to operate and perform basic maintenance on production machinery.
17. A dynamic and resilient leader.
18. A driven individual who can communicate and influence people at all levels.
19. Experience in lean manufacturing or CI experience is desirable.
20. Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
21. Flexibility to adapt to working patterns around evolving business needs.
