Job Description:
Strategically aligning customer and facility needs into the Facilities Management Operations and Budgeting process while fulfilling the tenets of the Master Plan. Building strong rapport with campus customers and stakeholders. Mid-to-Long-Range planning for individual facilities and designated areas of campus. Reporting to the Director of Facility Planning & Asset Renewal, this position assists in organizing and developing projects and standards for capital project programming and planning in Facilities Management.
Key areas of responsibility include campus/facility master planning, long-range facility planning, development of concepts in response to capital program priorities, programming and feasibility studies for major renovation and new construction projects.
The position responsibilities also include management of consultants and coordination with State Agencies in concept planning studies for complex multi-million dollar facilities and complex analyses in support of the University’s master plan, strategic facilities plans and capital plans. Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in architecture planning or other related discipline. Or a Bachelor’s degree in architecture planning, urban planning, or related field and work experience equivalent to a master’s degree in preceding fields of study.
2. Considerable knowledge of building infrastructure systems, including applicable building codes and regulations.
3. Working knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques when serving diverse customers.
4. Excellent decision-making skills and sensitivity to issues of policy and process.
5. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate objectives and issues and work effectively with user groups, internal technical staff, outside consultants and senior administration.
6. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
7. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, be a self-starter, manage multiple priorities, and complete work under the pressure of deadlines.
8. Valid Driver’s License.
9. Considerable experience in campus and facilities planning, including studies, facility programming, and capital project planning.
10. Working experience and knowledge of computer aided facilities management (CAFM), computer aided design (CAD), and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software used to develop and support planning analyses preferred.
11. Working experience with academic space planning, utilization, and programming.
12. Working experience with statistical and graphical analyses as well as with writing and editing complex proposals and program planning documents, reports, and presentation materials in formats including word processing, spreadsheet, and database management systems.
