This is an exciting new opportunity to support and lead the Business Intelligence teams within the Performance & Informatics portfolio, working as part of the Senior Manager Team to deliver high‑quality patient care. The Portfolio (P&I) encompasses Business Intelligence & Informatics, Corporate Performance, Information Systems Development, Analytical Development, Clinical Coding, Data Quality, Data Solutions, Ward Clerks, Patient Access and RTT.

P&I works cross‑functionally to support the Trust’s operational delivery of national and internal targets, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
Responsibilities
* Deputise for the Head of Business Intelligence and other members of the Senior Management Team when required.
* Work strategically and collaboratively with other Heads and Deputy Heads of Service within P&I.
* Build relationships with service users/clients and develop service improvement plans based on user discussion and SLAs.
* Lead on current and future Trust reporting needs using available technology and technological advances.
* Evaluate the level of support provided by the team and continuously refine approaches to meet the needs of each care Group/Directorate.
* Ensure business continuity and resilience in support of Groups/Directorates.
* Use sophisticated analysis techniques and performance management to monitor and report on progress against targets, identifying opportunities for improvement.
* Lead the research, development and management of technologies and innovations to maximise utilisation of Trust information by all end users.
* Support continuous evaluation of existing services and develop alternatives that offer greater benefits through effective collaboration.
* Promote analysis of need and an ongoing search for innovative responses.
* Establish excellent relationships with clinical staff, leaders and external stakeholders to promote joint working with health‑economy partners and other agencies.
* Ensure all performance areas are monitored effectively and consistently across the wider P&I team.
* Deliver training and engagement exercises with staff to identify needs and support best use of BI.
* Effectively present performance insights to a wide range of staff as required.
* Develop constructive working relationships with Group/Directorate management and clinical teams to promote a performance‑focused culture of safety, quality and effectiveness.
* Clearly articulate and translate the methodology and output of the department’s work.
* Support others in making highly complex business judgements involving analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options.
* Exercise sound judgment in analyzing complex issues, providing realistic options for improvement.
* Support targeting of resources and monitoring, implementation and evaluation of specific tasks/projects through detailed information analysis, communication and stakeholder management.
* Lead, monitor, mentor and coach the Business Intelligence teams through appraisal, supervision, training needs identification and knowledge sharing.
* Monitor team and project budgets, including processing of invoices and procurement.
* Interpret guidance in key areas of responsibility and implement key policy/guidance initiatives.
* Undertake any internal or external training courses required by the role, including mandatory training in line with Trust policy.
* Ensure the team’s working environment is safe, kept clean, tidy and fit for purpose.
* Abide by Trust policies across the business.
* Hold managerial responsibility for Senior BI & Performance Analysts in line with Trust policy and protocols.
* Cascade knowledge and skills, and maintain/evolve the training framework with new techniques and technologies as necessary.
* Work alongside the Head of Business Intelligence and other senior members of the BI teams and the wider Performance & Informatics teams to develop improved working practices.
* Develop work plans for the BI teams, including agreeing, defining and scheduling tasks and identifying resources.
* Conduct appraisals and personal reviews to help colleagues achieve agreed objectives.
* Ensure systematic and appropriate communication strategies are in place so staff can respond quickly to changes.
