A pioneering engineering business specialising in the development and deployment of cutting-edge electric drive systems is looking to appoint a Senior Test Engineer to join their growing Test and Simulation team. Focused on enabling the transition to clean, efficient power solutions, the company plays a key role in electrifying commercial and industrial vehicles through advanced powertrain technologies. As a Senior Test Engineer, you will be working on the validation and verification of electric motor systems using industry-leading test equipment and practices. Your contributions will ensure high-performance, safety, and compliance of electrified drivetrains across a variety of applications.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Test Engineer, you’ll be responsible for owning and delivering dynamometer-based testing and validation of electric powertrain components. You will:
* Manage dyno test facilities, including planning and executing test schedules.
* Oversee test rig commissioning, fixture design and NI LabVIEW implementation.
* Execute verification and validation testing in line with engineering standards (e.g., BS EN (phone number removed).
* Analyse and process test data, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance.
* Produce technical documentation to support internal development and external stakeholder reporting.
* Guide and mentor other test engineers, ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to safety and compliance protocols.
* Contribute to root cause analysis for system or test failures.
* Recommend improvements to testing processes, automation, and system architecture.
Qualifications & Experience
To succeed as a Senior Test Engineer, you should bring:
* A BEng/BSc in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical, or Embedded Engineering.
* Prior experience in electro-mechanical test environments, ideally within automotive or similar sectors.
* Strong understanding of electronics principles, including measurement methodology and noise analysis.
* Familiarity with signal measurement best practices, grounding, shielding and sensor setup.
* Expertise in NI LabVIEW, PXIe chassis, and DAQ system configuration.
* Competence in MATLAB for data processing and analysis.
* Knowledge of sampling theory (Nyquist, anti-aliasing, FFT, etc.) and DSP fundamentals.
* Ability to write clear technical reports in line with verification and validation procedures.
