Thatcher Associates are currently working with an established Building Contractor to identify a driven and experienced Site Manager to join their Bristol team. Initially, you will oversee a refurbishment project valued at £2 million. Future projects include both refurbishment and new build projects up to the value of £10 million across various sectors including education, leisure, and healthcare.
The Role
Typically, projects are predominantly new builds with some refurbishment schemes. The initial project will be a new build near Bristol; future projects will be located in Somerset, Bristol, or Wiltshire.
Responsibilities
* Planning and estimating budgets and timescales;
* Contributing to work planning and briefing project teams, contractors, and suppliers;
* Managing additional work within set timescales;
* Providing information to resolve disputes if they arise;
* Identifying areas of concern and finding solutions for existing contracting processes;
* Overseeing health and safety standards are met;
* Managing the on-site management team and overseeing subcontractors.
Skills
* Demonstrable experience leading and motivating a multi-skilled trades team;
* Ability to think creatively and react quickly to resolve issues;
* Strong organizational skills;
* Ability to deliver quality work within required timescales;
* Good knowledge of construction issues, including building regulations and planning;
* Commercial awareness and ability to establish and maintain good working relationships;
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
* A culture of continuous improvement;
* SMSTS certification;
* CSCS card;
* First Aid certification;
* HNC/HND or construction degree or equivalent qualification;
* Experience working for a large building contractor and seeking career progression;
* Experience with leisure, education, or healthcare projects is preferable but not essential;
* Proven experience managing projects of at least £8 million;
* Exposure to new build projects and complex schemes;
* Extensive knowledge of health and safety and risk management on site.
