A respected multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to appoint a Principal Designer to support the continued growth of its Health & Safety/CDM services in Reading. You’ll work on a range of projects across sectors, including housing, education, and commercial, offering the chance to manage multiple schemes and contribute to improving design safety across the project lifecycle.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of the CDM 2015 Regulations, design risk management, and construction methodologies to take ownership of Principal Designer duties while working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
* Advise clients of their statutory duties under CDM 2015
* Fulfil Principal Designer duties across a variety of live projects
* Coordinate with designers to compile Design Risk Management schedules
* Lead H&S design reviews at all project stages
* Manage and collate pre-construction information, addressing any gaps
* Promote clear communication between duty holders around H&S coordination
* Prepare Health & Safety Files upon project completion
* Support internal designers and project managers with specialist CDM guidance
Candidate Requirements
* Degree (or equivalent) in a construction-related discipline
* 3+ years of post-qualification experience
* Strong working knowledge of CDM 2015 and associated best practices
* Membership of a relevant body (e.g., APS, IOSH, or working towards)
* Experience in delivering multi-disciplinary construction projects
* Effective communication skills and stakeholder coordination
* Sound understanding of construction techniques and H&S legislation
