Overview

Band 8B 0.8 hours (30 hours). Base: Wayside House Coventry. As part of your role you will be required to travel throughout Coventry and Warwickshire. This role also incorporates remote and agile working.

We “The Childrens Intensive Support Team” are seeking a committed and passionate Principal Clinical Psychologist looking for an opportunity to make a difference in improving outcomes for our young people. In addition to providing a high quality, specialist applied psychology service the post holder will join the Children’s IST Leadership Team and be responsible, in conjunction with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, for the supervision and governance of the team. In addition, to support psychological practice within the team through consultation, supervision, formulation and training.

We are a rapidly evolving service and as such there will considerable opportunities to utilise research, audit and service development skills across the service. The ability to respond quickly and confidently within crisis situations is an essential part of this role.

The teams work systemically to understand and support the significant impact and challenges experienced by our service users. To do this, we work with the network around the person (e.g., Social Care, Education) and work closely with commissioners. As a Clinical Psychologist you will have experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working as you will need to attend regular MDTs, CETRs and EMDTs.

The successful applicant will be required to provide input to the service in the form of specialist assessments and psychological interventions, team formulation, consultation, training, service evaluation and supervision of other qualified staff.

Your role will entail working directly with the service users and their families or carers and, as such, experience of working with young people who are autistic or have a learning disability and have mental health needs is essential.


Responsibilities

* Provide specialist assessments, psychological interventions, team formulation, consultation, training, service evaluation and supervision of other qualified staff.
* Work directly with service users and families/carers; experience with autistic young people or those with learning disabilities and mental health needs is essential.
* Collaborate within the service, MDTs, CETRs and EMDTs; engage in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
* Support psychological practice within the team through supervision, formulation and training; contribute to service development and research.
* Contribute to governance and supervision as part of the IST Leadership Team, in conjunction with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist.


Qualifications and Experience

* Registration as a chartered psychologist with relevant UK body and eligibility for NHS Practice.
* Experience of working with young people who are autistic or have a learning disability and mental health needs.
* Experience of systemic, neuroaffirmative approaches and understanding of family relationships; knowledge of team formulations and strengths and challenges approach is desirable.
* Ability to engage in crisis response and urgent care within a fast-paced service.
* Willingness to travel across Coventry and Warwickshire; car owner/driver or suitable transport arrangements required.

Additional Information

Other responsibilities include providing consultation within the MDT and externally, joint working with other agencies, participation in service development, research and business meetings, and supervision of psychology staff or team members providing psychologically informed interventions.
