Residential Support Worker – Child (3 Long Days) 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year Flexible working to include: 3 x Long Day Shifts 7am - 9pm (inclusive of 2 x 20 min breaks) 4 days off across the week = Work life balance Competitive annual leave allowance Sleep-ins paid at an extra £78.48 per night You must be at least 23 years old Salary Range (FTE) £27,808 - £28,334 per annum subject to qualifications This role includes a Welcome Bonus of £1500 (subject to Tax/NI) after successful completion of the 6-month probation period. (Full details can be found in the policy) The role is based at Sunfield Garden School and Children's Homes, an independent specialist school educating children and young people (6-19) with complex behaviour and learning difficulties including autistic spectrum conditions. Sunfield Specialist School and Children’s Home sustains a distinguished historical legacy in the beautiful Clent Hills, West Midlands. Sunfield’s farm, walled garden and woodlands provide excellent opportunities for outdoor learning and practical activities. Sunfield is part of Ruskin Mill Trust. Established in 1984, Ruskin Mill Trust is an educational charity that operates in England, Scotland and Wales. We offer exciting outdoor learning environments, utilising practical land and craft activities to support the development of work and life skills in young people with autistic spectrum conditions and other learning differences. Our research-led method, Practical Skills Therapeutic Education, is inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner, John Ruskin and William Morris. Working with hand, head, heart and place, Ruskin Mill Trust helps individuals to re-imagine their potential. The role of Residential Support Worker can be both physically and emotionally demanding, and you must have the confidence and patience to deal/manage with the challenging behaviours that young people can present. However, the role is also extremely rewarding and you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of the young people in your care. You will be part of a team with responsibility for promoting and ensuring the safety, care, wellbeing and development of our students to support their growth in confidence in both social and practical skills. You will support and supervise our students to develop skills in domestic activities; cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting and shopping as well as engagement in leisure activities; accessing local communities, exploring local area, partaking in trips etc. You will be required to complete and update all relevant paperwork and recording accurately There may be a need to provide personal care, administer medication dependent on our student needs Our students have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, which can involve complex diagnoses. Any applicants must be prepared to work with challenging behaviour.
