Job Description
Red Bull Powertrains has an exciting Mechanical Design ICE Student Placement opportunity for undergraduate students to spend a year as part of our Mechanical Design ICE team. The placements will run from summer 2025 for one year and offer the opportunity to demonstrate your enthusiasm and apply your knowledge in an open and dynamic environment.
This placement will allow you to contribute to the mechanical engineering of RBPT's 2026 Formula 1 Power Unit. You will become familiar with engineering design principles required to design the components of a Formula 1 Power Unit, failure modes analysis techniques to identify root causes, and have the opportunity to develop your engineering skills by solving some of the technical challenges RBPT faces in our journey to 2026. You will be involved in all stages of the engineering process—from conceptual design to manufacturing review and power unit testing in our in-house dyno facility. Successful candidates will have a keen interest in mechanical design and development.
Expected Knowledge and Experience:
* Knowledge and experience from at least one year of undergraduate study in mathematics, physics, or an engineering-based degree course
* Knowledge of engineering software relevant to the chosen specialization such as CAD, FEA, CFD, or system modeling
* Knowledge and experience of applying engineering mathematics to solve problems
* Experience in writing and preparing technical reports and documentation
* Experience handling, processing, and understanding data from virtual or physical testing
