Assistant Shop Manager – Brighton & Newhaven Fish Sales (PORTSMOUTH BRANCH)
Full Time – Permanent – £32,000-£35,000 dependant on experience

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on individual to manage the daily operations of our busy retail shop. This varied role includes customer service, food preparation, stock control, staff management, and administration. You’ll ensure smooth shop operations, maintain high product standards, and support the team through effective leadership and communication.
The ideal candidate will be confident working with bespoke systems, managing inventory, and contributing to marketing initiatives, while also liaising with senior management to deliver business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
We’re looking for a proactive, hands-on Shop Manager to lead the daily operations of our busy retail outlet. This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll:
* Deliver outstanding customer service and create a welcoming shop environment.
* Oversee food preparation and maintain impeccable product standards.
* Manage stock levels and ensure smooth inventory control.
* Lead and motivate a small team, fostering collaboration and efficiency.
* Handle administration tasks and support marketing initiatives to drive sales.
* Liaise with senior management to achieve business objectives and growth targets.
What We’re Looking For
* Strong leadership and communication skills with a “can-do” attitude.
* Comfortable using bespoke systems and managing inventory effectively.
* Experience in retail or food service management (seafood knowledge is a bonus!).
* Ability to work flexibly within a Sunday–Thursday schedule and provide holiday cover when needed.
