Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, UNSW Canberra
Employment type: Full-time, 35 hours per week. Duration: Continuing.
Remuneration: Level C from $155,403; Level D from $185,917 plus 17% super. Location: UNSW Canberra, ADFA Campus.
Why Your Role Matters
The School of Science at UNSW Canberra is home to six disciplines: Aviation, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics, Physics and Oceanography. We are seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to join the School and contribute to our strengths in experimental condensed matter physics. You will combine research and teaching to make a meaningful impact, contribute to curriculum design and delivery, build a vibrant research portfolio, publish and obtain grant funding, supervise students, and participate in the administration and collegial life of the School. This position may be recruited at Academic Level C or Level D, depending on experience.
Responsibilities
* Conduct research in experimental condensed matter physics and maintain an active research portfolio.
* Design and deliver undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses; contribute to curriculum development.
* Publish high-quality research, apply for grants, and supervise students.
* Participate in school administration and contribute to collegial life.
* Engage with industry and the profession to attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives (Level C).
Qualifications
At Senior Lecturer Level C
* A PhD in experimental condensed matter physics or a related discipline.
* Expertise in cryogenic techniques and measurements at low temperatures.
* Demonstrated track record in experimental condensed matter physics research.
* Ability to support and inspire students; experience in teaching and learning design across undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
* Experience with educational technologies and online delivery methods; success in curriculum development and improvement.
* Experience recruiting and supervising high-calibre students; ability to interact with profession and industry and attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives.
Associate Professor Level D (in addition to Level C skills)
* Experience with industry or work-integrated learning.
* Professional development of teaching practice with ability to lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching.
* Highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills.
* Significant track record in research leadership with high-quality international impact and ongoing research leadership.
* Demonstrated leadership in building engagement and partnerships with the profession and industry.
