We are currently recruiting an exciting opportunity for an Internal Audit Manager to join the Group Internal Audit management team and help deliver the department’s vision and strategy of embracing technology, fostering talent, and driving meaningful change and resilience. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic FTSE 250 financial services group, which includes UK-regulated investment and life insurance subsidiaries and a regulated life insurance entity in the Isle of Man. The Role
As Internal Audit Manager, you will have direct line management responsibilities for three auditors, ensuring the delivery of high-quality audit services across the Group. The role combines strategic oversight through reviewing working papers and reports with hands-on involvement in audit execution. You will also support the Group Head of Internal Audit and wider team in building strong relationships with senior stakeholders and assisting with quarterly reporting to Audit & Risk Committees.
Responsibilities include
* Lead and ensure timely delivery of internal audit engagements from the Group Internal Audit Plan.
* Review audit work for quality across planning, fieldwork, and reporting stages.
* Conduct audits in line with methodology and track follow-up actions.
* Drive enhancements in data analytics and technology to improve audit efficiency.
* Contribute to the development of audit methodology, processes, and practices.
* Coach and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
* Manage co-sourced audit engagements with external firms.
* Support reporting to Executive Committees, Audit & Risk Committees, and Boards.
* Assist in developing and overseeing the annual Internal Audit Plan and Group Assurance Map.
* Build strong relationships across the Group to enhance the profile of Internal Audit.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and audit standards.
* Act as deputy for the Group Head of Internal Audit when required.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have prior experience of managing a team and have extensive experience in an internal audit position post-qualification (e.g. CIA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA). They must be able to lead with integrity, courage and professionalism. To be successful the candidate will be a strong communicator with the ability to build good relationships with stakeholders. The candidate must have knowledge of different regulations and legislation applicable to the group, alongside understanding of Global Internal Audit Standards and the UK code for Internal Audit in Financial services. Any experience within the wealth management, investment management and/ or life insurance sector would be beneficial. Further details of requirements can be found on the job description.
