Position: Locum Speech and Language Therapist – BarnetLocation: Edgware, HA8Start Date: September 2025Duration: Ongoing (initially 1 day per week, with potential for expansion later in 2025)Schedule: 1 day per week (flexible)Hours: 7.5 hours per week (flexible start and finish)Hourly Rate: £30-£35 (dependent on experience)On behalf of our client, a leading post-18 special college provision in Barnet, we are seeking a passionate and skilled Locum Speech and Language Therapist to join their innovative team starting September 2025. Our client is dedicated to delivering holistic, effective services through a strong universal offer, working in creative and collaborative ways to address current challenges in Speech and Language Therapy. This is an ideal opportunity for a Band 6 or experienced Band 5 therapist to make a significant impact in a specialist educational settingKey Responsibilities:
* Inform and deliver students’ Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) provisions.
* Embed holistic universal and targeted total communication support across the college.
* Manage a specialist caseload of students aged 18+ with complex communication needs, including autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and learning disabilities.
* Implement Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) strategies and support sensory integration needs.
* Deliver training to college staff to enhance communication support practices.
* Collaborate creatively with the team to address challenges and promote student development.
Requirements:
* HCPC registration and relevant speech and language therapy qualifications.
* Clinical experience in:
o Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
o Learning disabilities
o Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC)
o Complex needs and sensory integration
o Delivering training to support staff
* Band 6 or experienced Band 5 level competence.
* Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a creative approach to problem-solving.
* Ability to work independently in a specialist environment.
