This is an exciting time to join the Cardiology Department at Epsom and St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. The Cardiology Investigations Unit offers a full range of non‑invasive cardiology investigations, pacemaker implants, echocardiography and a cath lab. The unit is undergoing expansion with the development of new services, along with the addition of more consultant cardiologists. The department currently supports 9 cardiologists across the 2 sites.
We are seeking a Cardiographer to join our busy team. Cross‑site working is a requirement. Cardiographers are vital to the work in Cardiology Investigations Department, working alongside cardiac physiologists, performing ECGs, fitting 24‑hour heart rhythm and blood pressure monitors and 7‑day monitors on outpatients and on the wards, and assisting with exercise tests. Cardiographers also provide administrative support to our admin team. Experience of working with computers is an advantage.
Responsibilities
* Recording and interpretation of electrocardiograms (ECGs) within the department and throughout the hospital as required, under supervision and independently after completing a suitable course of training.
* Competency‑based training and assessment program within the department for ECG, demonstrating recognition of the main cardiac arrhythmias and basic electrocardiography instrumentation and troubleshooting technical faults.
* Providing explanation and reassurance to patients undergoing routine non‑invasive cardiac investigations and assisting patients with dressing and undressing.
* Fitting and removing ECG ambulatory ECG monitors and event recorders after appropriate training and assessment.
* Fitting and uploading/downloading event recorders after appropriate training and assessment.
* Carrying out preventative maintenance of ECG and ambulatory ECG recorders and exercise testing equipment.
* Working under supervision with a team of Cardiographers and Cardiac Physiologists.
Training & Qualifications
Full training will be given with an opportunity to gain the ASCT qualification in Electrocardiography.
