Senior Care Worker – Greystones Nursing Home
Greystones Nursing Home provides specialist care for individuals with long-term, complex psychiatric conditions and challenging behaviours, including personality disorders.
We are looking for a Senior Care Worker to join our team. In this role, you will support residents with daily living and take on additional responsibilities, including:
Leading and supervising care staff during your shift
Monitoring the quality of care and ensuring smooth service delivery
Responding to emergencies alongside the Nurse on Duty
Taking the lead in specific areas such as infection control or end-of-life care
You’ll play a key role in promoting residents’ comfort, safety, and independence.
Main Responsibilities
Care Duties
• Assist with personal care: washing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and meals
• Support residents with daily activities and social engagement
• Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, weight)
• Maintain accurate care records and contribute to care planning
• Escort residents to appointments or outings
• Ensure dignity and comfort for residents, including end-of-life care
• Observe and report changes in residents’ wellbeing
Team Leadership
• Supervise and support junior staff
• Lead shifts and ensure smooth daily operations
• Conduct staff supervisions, appraisals, and training
• Complete and manage staff rotas
• Order and manage PPE and care supplies

Minimum Qualification Level
Less < 5 GCSE's -Grade 4-9 or C & above - inc Eng & Math
Essential Skills
• A genuine interest in, and experience of working with, the relevant client group
• Monitoring service users & staff to ensure daily notes are recorded and service user’s observations such as weights are entered in timely manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Be a strong Team Player and Leader
• Ability to communicate and liaise with families/social workers/GP/Psychiatrist and other professionals
• Ability to manage pressure and conflicting demands
• Be able to prioritise tasks
• Willingness to participate on Vocational Training Programmes
• NVQ Level 2 in Care
• Satisfactory DBS Check
• Basic understanding of Infection Control- previous training
• Basic Understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act
Desirable Skills
• NVQ Level 3 in Care
• Previous supervisory experience
• Confidence with managing a team and the day to day running of the home
• Experience/ Qualification in the Safe Handling of Medicines/ Medication Training
• Previous work experience in a Mental Health environment
