A Group accountant is sought to join this Private Equity backed retail business on a 12 month fixed term contract.
The Group Accountant is responsible for supporting the consolidation and reporting of financial information across the group. This role ensures accurate and timely preparation of financial data from multiple reporting units, assists with intercompany reconciliations, and contributes to the month-end and year-end consolidation process. The Group Accountant works closely with the Group Consolidation Manager to maintain consistent application of accounting policies and support process improvements across the consolidation function.
Main Duties:
* Assist in the end-to-end consolidation process by collecting, validating, and preparing financial data from reporting units.
* Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely reporting in line with group deadlines.
* Prepare and maintain intercompany reconciliations and assist in the elimination of intercompany balances for consolidation purposes.
* Ensure accurate application of accounting policies and standards across the group.
* Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements, schedules, and reports for internal management and external auditors.
* Support the Group Consolidation Manager in responding to audit queries and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
* Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the consolidation and reporting function.
* Support the implementation and maintenance of the group's financial consolidation tools, ensuring data integrity.
* Provide ad-hoc financial analysis, reporting, and reconciliations as required.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate expertise in management accounting, consolidation, intercompany reconciliations, financial reporting and compliance, with strong stakeholder communication and process improvement.
Qualifications / Experience:
* Near or fully qualified accountant available immediately.
* Experience working in a finance function within a group environment with exposure to consolidation
* Strong Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting systems
* Understanding of accounting standards (IFRS / local GAAP)
This role is onsite primarily with 4 days being considered and flexibility with working hours.
This is a 12 month fixed term contract to start immediately.
