5184 – Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Midwifery (University of Greenwich, School of Health Sciences).
Background
The School of Health Sciences is part of a highly successful and vibrant faculty, frequently commended for its partnership working across the health and social care sector. Supported by a simulation strategy and resources, the school delivers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses leading to registration in allied healthcare, nursing and midwifery professions. The University has invested over £8 million in the development of a state‑of‑the‑art simulation centre, which further enhances our record of teaching, research and knowledge exchange innovation.
We also have a wide portfolio of postgraduate provision, including an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. The school currently runs a successful undergraduate (UG) Midwifery programme and is looking to appoint experienced midwifery educators.
Responsibilities
* Work with the midwifery team and employers to deliver the UG Midwifery programme, including an apprenticeship offer.
* Collaborate with stakeholders on programme design and ongoing improvement.
* Participate in research and knowledge‑exchange activities coordinated by the Faculty’s Institute of Lifecourse Development.
Person Specification
* Registered midwife with ambition to develop as a midwifery educator and academic.
* Experience in teaching and assessing, preferably through a mentorship/practice assessor role or equivalent.
* Provisional teaching qualification (PGCHE) will be considered, with an opportunity to progress through the GOLD framework to achieve an HEA senior fellowship.
* Willingness to contribute to faculty‑wide research and knowledge‑exchange activities; opportunity to undertake doctoral studies through a professional doctorate or PhD programme.
* Part‑time working and/or secondments are available; if without previous teaching experience, the role will be considered for a Lecturer position.
