Health and Well-Being Officer

Location:
Hybrid (Office-based, remote working, and on-site residential delivery)

Hours:
25 hours per week on average, usually 3 days a week with flexible hours. When a course is running, you will need to work a 4 or 5 day week at a specific location.

Salary:
£25k pa.

Reporting to:
CEO

Contract Type:
20-month Fixed Term (extension subject to funding.)

Purpose of the Role

To provide holistic welfare support to beneficiaries and their families annually, while designing and safely delivering Active Recovery Courses. This includes maintaining contact with beneficiaries, enrolling them onto course modules, mentoring them, and supporting them in accessing other sources of help that we identify as being needed.

The role is central to the charity's mission - combining direct support, programme leadership, and cross-sector coordination to ensure veterans receive the wraparound care they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Beneficiary & Family Support

· Build trusted relationships with beneficiaries and their families, offering tailored welfare support.

· Maintain regular communication through calls, visits, and digital channels.

· Conduct needs assessments and develop individual support plans.

· Liaise with families to ensure they are informed, supported, and involved where appropriate.

Programme Design & Delivery

· Design and deliver Active Recovery Courses.

· Liaise with clinical delivery partners.

· Lead on logistics, staffing, safeguarding, and health & safety for each course.

· Monitor outcomes and gather feedback to inform continuous improvement.

Partnership & Coordination

· Act as the charity's lead coordinator with external organisations offering wraparound support (e.g. housing, mental health, employment, clinical services).

· Represent the charity at forums, networks, and collaborative initiatives.

· Maintain referral pathways and joint working protocols with partner agencies.

Safeguarding & Risk Management

· Ensure safe delivery of all programmes, including risk assessments and safeguarding protocols.

· Respond to welfare concerns and escalate appropriately.

· Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR and confidentiality policies.

Monitoring & Reporting

· Track engagement, outcomes, and impact across all supported beneficiaries and families.

· Create and manage beneficiary mentoring database.

· Prepare reports for internal leadership, trustees, and funders.

· Contribute to funding bids and strategic planning as required.

Person Specification

This role is more than operational - it's relational, restorative, and deeply human. You'll be part of a team that believes in dignity, belonging, and the power of recovery. You'll help beneficiaries reconnect with purpose, community, and themselves.

Essential

· Experience supporting veterans or vulnerable adults and children.

· Proven ability to design and deliver health and well-being programmes.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Knowledge of safeguarding and H&S legislation.

· Ability to manage logistics and coordinate complex programmes.

· Mentoring experience.

Desirable

· Lived experience of military service or veteran community, understanding of military culture and transition challenges.

· Qualification in coaching, counselling, or recovery facilitation

· Experience working within or developing partnerships.

· Mental health first aid or equivalent training.
