Offer description

Learning Support Worker : Specialist Adult Services

Location: Near Cranleigh, Surrey (Dunsfold Airfield) : Driving is essential

Working Pattern: All year round (49 weeks). Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Part:time options considered)

Annual Leave: 25 days plus Bank Holidays (including up to 3 days for the Christmas closure)

The Opportunity Are you an experienced care or SEN professional looking to escape anti:social shift patterns, evening work, and weekend rotas?

We are recruiting dedicated Learning Support Workers for a pioneering specialist day service supporting autistic adults (predominantly aged 18:35). This role is entirely focused on empowering adults to develop lifelong skills, independence, and vocational experience. Operating on a stable Monday:to:Friday, 9:to:5 schedule, this is a rare opportunity to build a deeply rewarding career in adult care while maintaining an excellent work:life balance.

About the Setting

You will be joining a modern, purpose:built Centre for Lifelong Learning located on a spacious site at Dunsfold Airfield, near Cranleigh. The environment is specifically designed for real:world application and vocational training. Facilities include a full training kitchen, an IT suite, a gym, and a Design and Technology suite.

Furthermore, our learners gain hands:on, real:world work experience through the centres own public:facing community café and outdoor horticultural centre, where they practice cooking, serving, and gardening.

Our Methodology

This setting provides highly structured, behaviourally based support.

You will be responsible for collecting, recording, and analysing data (a process we call graphing) to track each learners progress. We break complex life skills down into manageable steps and celebrate every micro:victory. If you are analytical and love seeing tangible, evidence:based progress in the people you support, you will thrive in this environment.

The Realities of the Role

We believe in honesty so you know exactly what to expect. Working 1:1 or in small groups (both on:site and out in the local community), you must be comfortable with the following realities:

*

Challenging Behaviour: You will manage and support individuals with complex behavioural needs. While these behaviours are not violent, they require a calm, resilient, and proactive approach to safely de:escalate and support the learner.
*

Intimate Personal Care: You will be required to provide intimate personal care daily. This includes assisting learners with toileting and feeding to help them maintain their hygiene and dignity.
*

Medication Administration: Once fully trained, you will be responsible for safely administering medication to learners.

What We Are Looking For

Unlike our trainee teaching roles, we are actively looking for previous experience for this position. This can be professional, personal, or voluntary experience working with adults or young people with disabilities, particularly within SEN or care.

*

Qualifications: There are no strict academic requirements (e.g., Maths/English GCSEs are not mandatory, though Grade C/4 is desirable), making this role highly accessible to experienced care workers.
*

Characteristics: You must be calm under pressure, unfailingly positive, highly patient, and genuinely passionate about helping autistic adults lead fulfilling lives.
*

Transport: Because of the rural location and the frequent need to access the local community with learners, driving is considered essential.

Safeguarding and Compliance

We are deeply committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults at risk.

*

All applicants will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
*

Our vetting process is extraordinarily strict: any and all gaps in your education or employment history must be fully accounted for, and you must provide reasons for leaving all previous employment
