Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Cramlington
Salary: £40,000 - £43,000 + Overtime + Benefits
Overview
We are hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a static, site-based role in Cramlington. This Mechanical Maintenance Engineer position offers a mix of hands‑on maintenance, compliance, and contractor management within a large, well‑established engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
* PPM and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems
* Work on pumps, boilers, steam systems, compressors, and chillers
* Use CMMS to log work and maintain records
* Follow permit‑to‑work systems and RAMS
* Supervise subcontractors and ensure safe working
* Carry out inspections and fault finding
* Support small projects and site improvements
Team & Environment
* Part of a team of ~12 engineers (Mechanical, Electrical & Fabric)
* Reporting into a Supervisor / Site Manager
* Collaborative, team‑focused environment on a large, complex site
* Regular interaction with client stakeholders
Requirements
Essential:
* Mechanical apprenticeship (NVQ / City & Guilds)
* Experience in industrial, FM, or manufacturing environments
* Knowledge of PPM, reactive maintenance, and permits
Desirable:
* ONC / HNC Mechanical Engineering
* BOAS, IPAF, Confined Space, IOSH
* Experience in regulated environments (e.g. GMP)
Training & Development
* Strong focus on training and progression
* Support with qualifications (e.g. BOAS, IPAF, confined space)
* Ongoing development within a high‑compliance environment
* Clear opportunities to upskill and progress internally
Hours & Benefits
* Mon‑Fri 07:30-16:00
* On‑call rota + overtime (enhanced rates)
