Key Responsibilities Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day management of the kitchen and the wider food operation. Lead by example in delivering high-quality food with strong standards of preparation, presentation and service. Help deliver a varied and engaging food offer across staff dining, hospitality events, bakery production, summer street food markets and occasional fine dining. Assist in the planning and delivery of seasonal menus that are relevant, creative, commercially sound and appropriate to the audience and style of service. Contribute ideas for new dishes, promotions and food concepts that keep the offer fresh, modern and aligned with current food trends. Ensure that food is produced with care, consistency and attention to detail, always reflecting BaxterStorey’s standards and the expectations of a high-profile client site. Support with menu tastings, dish reviews and service feedback to help continuously improve quality and customer satisfaction. Supervise, support and develop chefs and kitchen assistants, building a positive kitchen culture and helping individuals grow in skill and confidence. Take an active role in training the team on food quality, presentation, consistency, allergen awareness, food safety and kitchen procedures. Work closely with front-of-house teams, hospitality contacts and management to ensure smooth service and excellent customer experience. Support the Head Chef with ordering, stock control, stock rotation, wastage reduction and cost management to help achieve site targets. Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, food safety and compliance at all times, ensuring the kitchen is always audit and service ready. Monitor equipment and report maintenance issues promptly to support safe and effective kitchen operations. Provide calm, practical leadership during busy service periods and step in confidently when additional operational support is required. Help create an environment where food, people and service standards are taken seriously and where pride in the operation is visible every day. Qualifications Previous experience working in a similar role within a contract catering company or educational institution preferred. Culinary degree or relevant certifications from a recognized culinary institute. Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices. Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume kitchen environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Fun and enthusiastic Have excellent organisation skills. Be a team player and enjoy succeeding as a team.
