Have you got the skills and experience to generate new activity in our greenspaces and country park buildings? Do you want to be part of the team developing and delivering the redevelopment of the Watersports Centre at Strathclyde Country Park as part of achieving The Plan for North Lanarkshire?
We are recruiting a new activity coordinator project officer to support the Greenspace Projects team as we construct and launch ‘STRATHSHORE’, the new name chosen by the public for the redeveloped Watersports Centre. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work on key strategic projects within the Country Parks for the Future Strategy and park masterplans. As part of a small, dynamic team you would be developing new streams of activity within the building such as..
1. Engaging with SME to build a new market, ensuring utilisation of new, small, flexible workspaces by health and wellbeing businesses.
2. Marketing the facilities to generate more conference and meeting room bookings. Developing a database of contacts for ongoing promotion.
3. Engaging with external events organisers and the internal events team to develop a forward program of outdoor events bookings in Strathclyde Country Park.
4. Developing proposals and fundraising externally for the public opening event for Strathshore in .
5. Promoting Strathshore and the park to encourage more visits by local people and tourists.

Collaborative working with a variety of partners, customers and clients will be key to ensuring the delivery of a new activity program which represents the needs and demands of our communities. To succeed in this role you will be solutions focused and highly organised. You will be delivering quality services to our communities as well as collegues, trade representatives, and elected members. In every aspect of your work you must be able to promote the Council’s vision, values and reputation, including through confident presentation skills, oral and written, in public forums.
You will have knowledge and experience within a relevant field including a track record of working in a team to develop and deliver projects on time and on budget.
Experience of outreach work leading to successful working relationships with professional and voluntary stakeholders is essential, as is experience in planning, tracking, and communicating progress. You will require an SVQ4, HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline combined with significant relevant experience. You will have knowledge of procurement procedures and contract management and be able to utilise various Microsoft Office packages to store, analyse and present information.
You will be self-motivated with a flexible and collaborative approach to work and have the ability to cope with multiple and changing demands whilst meeting tight deadlines.
You must be able to travel throughout North Lanarkshire and out with this area to undertake the duties of this post. You must hold a current UK driving licence to be eligible for this role.
You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member through Disclosure Scotland and obtain a satisfactory membership check prior to commencing in this role.
This role is a Hybrid working position in line with the Council’s Hybrid Working Scheme.
This position is temporary for 23 months.
Work pattern:
35 hours per week - Monday - Thursday: 08:45 - 16:45 (including a 55 minute unpaid break)
Friday: 08:45 - 16:15 (including a 50 minute unpaid break)
